Pierre, SD Janasa Limited, a manufacturer of hydraulic jacks
and yacht trailers, will create 25-35 jobs in Wilmot when it
opens its doors for business later this spring, said Marty
Davis, acting secretary, Department of Tourism and State
Development. The jobs will be created within the next two
years.
The company, which President and CEO Bob Snyder has owned
and operated for 25 years, has been closed for the last
several years due to his wife’s illness. Snyder said the time
is right to reopen the plant and Wilmot is the right place to
do it. “We anticipate a much better work environment in
Wilmot,” Snyder said. “The people of South Dakota are
exceptional,” he said.
Davis said the company will purchase an 8,400 square foot
existing facility. “The availability of the facility and the
attitude of the people were major factors in Janesa’s decision
to move to South Dakota,” she said.
Snyder said he has already interviewed some people for top
positions and will interview more in the next several months.
“I have a terrific group of people that I’m working on
advertising, credit, taxation and marketing. With their help,
we will get this business up and running as quickly and
efficiently as possible,” he said.
Janesa’s market is currently all domestic, but Snyder
anticipates growth into Canada and Mexico in the near future.
