–can expect to find more statistics, more user friendly
features and new sections specifically designed for a variety
of economic development partners, Tina Van Camp, director,
Governor’s Office of Economic Development, announced today as
the state launched its updated site.
“The web is a critical marketing tool in our
economic development efforts,” Van Camp said. “Our new site
features more maps, more demographic and statistical
information, an improved 50-state comparison application and
an updated South Dakota Profile,” she said. “Additionally,
visitors to our site will find the new information is easier
to download,” she added.
Van Camp said another new feature of the site is
sections specifically designed for local developers and economic
development partners, entrepreneurs and start-ups and individuals
relocating to South Dakota. “Each of these groups has information
that is pertinent to them. What we did was set up individual
locations so these groups could more easily access that
information,” Van Camp said.
The state worked closely with economic development
web site expert Mark James to determine what steps needed to be
taken to make the site more useful to local economic development
professionals as well as site selection consultants. “Site selection
consultants are a growing market for us so it’s imperative that we
are putting out the type of information that makes their web search
most productive,” Van Camp said
“We are extremely proud of the new site and feel
that it really addresses economic development in South Dakota in a
clean and concise manner,” she concluded.
